Jim Carrey’s Top Movie

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

If you asked a movie fan to name some of the best actors in comedy over the last 20 years, one of the first that comes to mind for most will be Jim Carrey. The famous actor rakes in tens of millions of dollars per move, and it’s simply because of the fact that people love him.

At the end of the day, determining which Jim Carrey movie was his best is a difficult task. With so many great movies in his arsenal, it’s hard to narrow it down to one.

Many people will say that Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, the movie that really put him on the big stage, is Carrey’s best work. Others prefer his follow up, The Mask, which also introduced longtime movie star Cameron Diaz.

Carrey’s versatility as an actor was definitely showcased in The Mask, as he played a character with an absolutely huge personality.

Still, it was Dumb and Dumber, which followed about a year later, that many believe was Carrey’s funniest movie ever. Starring with Jeff Daniels as Lloyd Christmas, a dimwit living in Providence, Carrey travels across the country with Daniels to chase the woman of his dreams.

A few years later, The Cable Guy came out, and many had mixed opinions about this. Still, there are some who swear that The Cable Guy was Carrey’s best and funniest performance. Others prefer his work in Me, Myself, and Irene, another Carrey movie that many believe to be underrated.

Carrey spent some time focusing on roles that showcased his ability to do well as a serious actor in dramatic movies too. Movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Truman Show are both serious movies with dramatic themes. Carrey took to these roles extremely well.

There are many Jim Carrey movies to choose from here, and narrowing it down to one will be extremely difficult for most movie fans. Still, everyone has that one special movie that stands out in their minds.

2 Enjoyable TV Shows

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

I’m a big lover of some good television shows and I’m always on the lookout for new ones. Whether it’s a long running show on a mainstream channel or something new on a cable channel, I’m always enjoying some of the many great original productions in existence.

I’d like to talk about two great shows that you should definitely consider if you’ve never seen them before. Assuming that you’re familiar with these shows, I would imagine that you’re a fan of them as well. If you haven’t seen them, I really believe that you’ll enjoy these.

The first show is an HBO comedy that airs every Sunday night. Curb Your Enthusiasm is written by Larry David, and it’s now one of the most loved comedies on television.

You might not know this, but Larry David was the original creator of Seinfeld. Rather than being a writer this time, he acts as the show’s star. The situations he finds himself in are very awkward and funny all at once.

If you’ve seen Seinfeld in the past then Curb Your Enthusiasm will definitely have a familiar feel. It’s very much like the hit comedy and many people actually believe that it’s better than Seinfeld was, believe it as it may.

The next show I’m going to mention is a lesser known comedy that I’m surprised more people don’t know about. In fact, many people don’t even realize that Starz has original productions. Regardless, Party Down follows the lives of a catering company in Los Angeles.

There’s never a dull moment, as the crew arrives at a different, unique party situation each week and the plots are hilarious. It seems like every week, someone in the group is getting into some kind of trouble.

There are some actors on this show that you’ll probably recognize from other shows and movies, and they all do an incredible job at bringing the show its many laughs.

Great Winter Season TV Series To Enjoy

Friday, July 9th, 2010

There’s no better time to watch TV than when it’s cold outside. Unfortunately, good winter programming can be a little harder to find than it is during the other seasons of the year. There are still some great shows out there though.

There are probably some shows that you’ve never heard of, or simply ones that you didn’t think you’d enjoy. If you give them a chance after watching an episode or two, I’m confident that you’ll begin to watch them regularly.

The following shows are ones that I’d recommend tuning into. Give these a chance and you’ll likely be amused.

ABC has a great comedy series entering its second season in Better Off Ted. If you’re unfamiliar with this series, the best way to sum it up is by comparing it to The Office. The characters on this show are great, and you’ll likely compare some of them to people at your own workplace.

There’s a lot of sarcasm and wit in the show’s humor, and most who watch the show fall in love with it after an episode or two. Critics seem to agree that this may be the funniest show on television right now.

If you’re looking for a drama series worth watching, then give Men of a Certain Age a chance. This show airs weekly on TNT, and stars Ray Romano, who rose to fame on the success of Everybody Loves Raymond.

Romano is back, seeking to find success in a second series, and he may well do that here. This show pulls you in after an episode or two.

Since we’ve covered comedies and dramas, it’s time to look at reality TV. The Biggest Loser is airing a new season that has many people buzzing, and MTV has its viewers anxiously waiting for new episodes of Jersey Shore each week. Both of these will provide you with a healthy dose of reality entertainment.
