A Few Of The Weber BBQ Parts To Keep You Barbecuing

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

New Weber BBQ parts and additional tools for grilling can prolong the life of most past and present makes of Weber grill. Accessories and tools can provide inspiration for new ways to cook with a barbecue, apart from the traditional method. Replacement and additional components can be found easily for gas or charcoal grills in many areas.

The classic design of the Weber charcoal grill has made it popular for several generations. No matter when you purchased yours, or even if it was a hand-me-down, replacement parts, like wheels and grill grates, can keep you grilling on through summers to come. Replacing the six inch wheels which may have become damaged over time will continue to make it easier to change the location of your barbecue.

Over time, grilling and charcoal grates can deteriorate. Rust can damage cooking surfaces as well as the grates used to hold charcoal, particularly if they have not been cleaned well or damaged by weather. Weber provides a selection of grates and cooking grills to replace those damaged, even offering a hinged cooking grill which can make adding fuel to the BBQ easier.

New parts, such as a charcoal fuel rail make it possible to cook in different ways in the barbecue. Fuel rails hold burning charcoal in one area of the barbecue so that indirect heat can cook foods, such as poultry. Foods cooked with indirect heat are baked rather than grilled.

Weber gas barbecues may require new pieces to maintain their reliability and safety. Parts such as igniters or gas tubes for burners can keep the barbecue operating as well as it did in its first days of use. It is possible that ignition systems or gas tubes of the barbecue may become blocked or worn by constant use.

There are many other accessories, tools and parts for barbecues which can make cooking easier or thermometers. Although some barbecues may already be fitted with a temperature gauge, a probe thermometer is a useful tool when cooking large cuts of meat and poultry. By inserting a probe thermometer into a piece of roasting beef or a whole chicken, for instance, it is possible to tell whether the beef is rare, medium or well done, depending on the internal temperature, and if the chicken is cooked and therefore safe to eat.

Rotisseries, specialised roasting racks and griddles can add variety to regular barbecue meals. A rotisserie mechanism can improve how poultry cooks and racks specially made for spare ribs or kabob’s can introduce a new recipes and styles of cooking. With indirect cookery, roasting pans and griddles can be used for pancakes, flat breads and baked deserts.

It is important to keep a barbecue clean between uses and at the end of the grilling season. Tools such as steel brushes and scrapers can prevent rust in grates and grilling racks, making these pieces last longer. Keeping the barbecue protected with one of the covers specifically made for your model will prevent the barbecue from being damaged in changing seasons or bad weather.

There are wealth of replacement Weber BBQ parts as well as components and equipment which can be added to both past and present models of grillers. These parts are useful for the maintenance and function of the barbecue as well as extending the possible uses a cook may imagine. The more equipment and tools used the further uses there are for a barbecue, which could become the primary cooking method in the summer months.

I have even more reviews and information about Weber grill parts and Weber BBQ parts at my website. I will also let you in on a little secret: Where to get them cheaper than anyplace else on the web;) Many thanks for reading, and good luck!

Chocolate May Not Be All Unhealthy

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Ah chocolate, that delicious creamy treat that is everyone’s vice. We just can’t get enough of the stuff, even though we know the amount we consume is ultimately bad for us, we just can’t resist it, so there tends to be a guilt edged pleasure about eating it. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a healthy chocolate?

And the good new is that there is a healthy chocolate out there. There are many good things in chocolate such as vitamins and minerals, so what is it that makes it generally so unhealthy?

The thing is we mess about with our chocolate something rotten. We get the basic product then add loads of other stuff to it, such as extra butter, sugar, milk solids etc which enhance the flavor but make it very fattening. Dark chocolate, however, doesn’t have any of these added, but there is one more thing to think about.

Our bodies do not recognize chocolate as food, weird huh? Eat a bar of chocolate on its own and your body will pick up on the sugar etc and just store it, and the minerals and vitamins won’t be absorbed.

It’s a little known fact that dark chocolate has a very high iron content; so a perfect complement is food such a blueberries which are rich in vitamin C. This balances the nutrition and makes sure that your body absorbs the iron from the chocolate properly, and tastes delicious at the same time.

As dark chocolate contains a lot of iron, eating it with foods high in Vitamin C ensures that all the nutrients are absorbed and you get all the benefits. You have the best of both world here; you get all the iron, vitamins etc and it tastes absolutely gorgeous as well.

I used to work as a chocolatier, so you can imagine how much chocolate I used to eat! As I ate dark chocolate complimented with strawberries, blueberries, nuts etc I never put any weight on. A blood test also proved that I had the optimum level of minerals and vitamins in my system.

Next time you need your chocolate fix, ignore the fattening and unhealthy milk chocolate and reach for the dark chocolate with the fruit and nuts. No guilt but every bit as delicious.

Like everything else, if you eat too much chocolate it becomes unhealthy, so watch your consumption.

The Sensibility Of Cleaning Your Dishes As You Prepare Food

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Cooking is one of our favorite hobbies, we love going into the kitchen and creating tasty meals and treats fro our loved ones. What we don’t love, however, is the trail of destruction that we leave behind. How come there’s so much mess?

This has bugged us for generations, well, since the days of masters and servants ceased to exist. At one time, all our ancestors had to do was sit at the table, have their meals brought to them and then retire. The staff downstairs had to worry about all the tidying up.

If you were at the other end of the social scale and didn’t have servants it wasn’t a problem either as you couldn’t afford to cook elaborate meals so there was little, if anything to clean up.

The thing is, with today’s so called time saving gadgets, there seems to be more mess than ever. As well as utensils we have used, there are also a stack of appliances such as blenders that need to be cleaned out.

The nearest most of us have to servants these days is a cleaner once or twice a week, and a war zone kitchen isn’t really in her job description! So we still stress about how we can continue cooking, but without the mess.

Cooking is one of my great passions in life, tidying up after myself is not. I’ve tried various things to lessen this chore; most of them didn’t work, I’m happy to report that this one did.

Clean as you go is now my kitchen motto. Keep a bowl of hot, soapy water and wash each piece as soon as you’ve used it. Then when you’ve finished, there will only be the last couple of things that you’ve used, so much better than a teetering pile of dirty dishes.

In the long run, leaving everything to the end is making more work for yourself. This is particularly difficult if you have guests for dinner, you know what a state your kitchen is in but can’t abandon your guests to go and clean up. Cleaning as you go means you can enjoy your evening as you know your kitchen is okay.

Intriguing Cookie Creations

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

If you or your family are bored with eating the same cookies why not try something a little different? Say goodbye to your Oatmeal and raisin or Chocolate Chip, not that I could ever give up the latter completely, and be a bit more inventive.

I’m also open to new ideas and suggestions though, and am willing to try anything. It’s only by mixing and matching and playing around that you can discover new delights.

There are a few new cookie recipes that I gave a chance recently, and they were really tasty. Here are some of them for you to try; you may find a new favorite for yourself or your family.

One clever idea that I think you will enjoy is using a cake mix to make your cookies from. They even crack like shop bought cookies and taste brilliant, and there are so many flavors to experiment with.

These next cookies come from peanut butter dough and contain butter cups, like the ones Reese’s make. Either buy or make your dough and make the cookies as normal. When they come out of the oven push a butter cup into each cookie, you get the idea.

In my opinion, White chocolate is a very neglected ingredient, until now. My combining this with Cranberries I have created a cookie that looks good, tastes good and that I can’t make enough of as they go so fast! You know you’ve hit on a winner when your friends keep asking you to make more.

A sweet and tasty treat using cherry, chocolate chips and buttered toffee is my last idea today. Just chuck them into your mixture and prepare your taste buds for a real treat.

I hope my ideas have inspired you to try some of your own, or even take my suggestions and add your own twist to them. Making cookies is a lot of fun, and inventing new ones that turn out to be winners is very satisfying.

Consider Cooking These Original Soups

Friday, July 16th, 2010

If you’re short on ideas for an appetizer, you might want to consider making a soup at home. It’s light, it warms the body, and the right ones are absolutely delicious. I have a whole cabinet full of recipes and I’d like to share some ideas with you.

Depending on what it’s in it, a good soup can vary in both consistency and taste. I’ve been cooking soups for years now, and I’m going to share a few ideas with you if you’re bored at home with the same old soups. There are plenty of ideas that you’ve probably never even thought about.

Butternut squash is a great soup, but I like mine even more with apples in it. Mincing some apples with this soup makes it delicious, but I’d go one step further and puree them. This is one of my favorite soups out there and I believe you’ll love it too.

2. Broccoli soup with cheddar cheese croutons. You’ve probably had the broccoli and cheddar combo on its own, but the cheese flavored crouton here is a game changer.

3. Potato nugget soup. You can prepare the potato any way you want, but I would suggest baking it to keep it healthy. Boiling the potato is another way to go, as it’ll naturally boil while being cooked with the soup anyway.

Appropriate for the time of year, why not try doing something with pumpkin? The natural spices of the pumpkin are absolutely great when hot. You can go with a creamed soup, a bisque, a gazpacho, and other original twists.

Lastly, a cream of turkey soup with turkey dumplings inside. This requires a bit more work, but it’s such a great soup and my personal favorite. If you have the energy to pull this off and you like turkey, then I know how you’ll feel about this soup.

There’s a good chance that one of the above soups may appeal to you. If I haven’t done my job, keep on thinking and I’m sure that any one of these ideas could ultimately lead to something else.

3 Creative Desserts

Monday, June 28th, 2010

I’ve been making desserts my whole life, but sometimes I simply run out of ideas. Thanks to the Internet, there’s never a shortage of creative dessert dishes to make.

Whether it’s a hot cake or some cold ice cream, there are so many desserts in this world to enjoy. I know that I’ve had my share of them, but here are a few that I’ve just recently tried.

I’m going to help you out by giving you a few suggestions that I believe will appeal to you. Take a look at these, and look online for different ways to make these, as I know there are a ton of them.

First and foremost, white chocolate mousse is a rich, delicious treat that presents itself as a nice change from the usual. If you’ve never had it before, I suggest that you give this one a shot.

While it tastes great on its own, it never hurts to add some more ingredients here, as things like caramel, syrups, and more all go really well with this dish.

A second dessert dish that goes over really well at parties is the ice cream martini. You’re basically serving ice cream inside a martini glass, which looks much more appealing than ice cream in a cup or a bowl.

The best thing to do here is to add some ingredients that essentially make it look like a parfait would look. From there, you have an ice cream sundae in a much more refined dish.

Lastly, there’s the mango rose filled with ice cream. This has it all. It has the aesthetics, the great taste, and even some fruit for health benefits. Believe it or not, it’s pretty easy to shape the mango as you need to here.

From there, you’ll put some ice cream inside the mango, which makes for a beautiful presentation and a tasty dessert.

Top Tips To Plan A Healthy Meal For Your Children

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Once the start of the school term comes back around, what do you do for your kid’s lunchtime? Do you send them to school with a packed lunch or do you sign them up for the school meals?

The good thing about the school meals is that normally your kids will have a choice of two meals to choose from, and so, if they are not too keen on one of the meals, at least thy have another option to choose from. Another good thing about the school meals is that you do not have to make them a packed lunch in the morning. This can be extremely helpful if you are in a rush in the mornings.

The last thing that you want during the day is for your kid’s to fill up with sweets and cookies instead of a balanced meal. Ideally there are always plenty of lunch ladies on hand to make sure that your child does in fact get one of the main meals provided.

Most of the schools now monitor what sort of meals your kids will be eating everyday.

Sometimes it may be a little expensive to sign your kids up for the school meals program, especially if you have more than one child at the same school at the same time; but it may be worth the cost if you are always running late in the mornings.

At least if you send your kids to school with a packed lunch and a carton of milk or juice, you will know that they are getting the nutrition that they need for the day. Alternatively send them with a packed lunch and some money to buy a drink.

Another option at lunchtime would be to have packed lunch one day, and then have a school meal the next day. This variation at lunchtime could make their school dinner time a bit more fun filled.

The important thing is that there is not really a proper way to go about having lunch during the school term; it is just your own personal choice which way you do it.
